Sunday Morning, May 25, 2003 at The Wexner Center for the Arts Film/Video Theater, Cinevent and The Wexner Center will present
DOUBLE TROUBLE, a very rarely seen pre-swashbuckling Fairbanks film from 1915 in which a blow to the cranium brings out totally new aspects the Doug’s timid banker character. Also on the program will be Snub Pollard in a silent one-reel Hal Roach comedy YEARS TO COME. The second feature film to be screened with be NORTH OF 36 (1924) which was produced by Paramount from an Emerson Hough novel as a follow-up to the success of their production The Covered Wagon, also based on one of Hough’s books. NORTH OF 36 (1924) features footage shot on one of the last actual cattle drives in the vanishing real West. Seating for this screening is limited to 280, and tickets for the screening and bus transportation to and from the Wexner Center are available at an additional charge. Tickets are $10.00 each, in addition to the regular Cinevent registration fee.

Hart is a disgraced railroad station agent in SAND! (1920); THE RAVEN (1935) with horror greats Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi; our special POPEYEProgram where everyone else eats the spinach;THE PIED PIPER (1942)with Monty Woolley, Anne Baxter and Roddy McDowall trying to evade Nazi Otto Preminger; Walter Huston and Charlie Ruggles are GENTLEMEN OF THE PRESS (1929); John T. Murray, Wanda Hawley and Jimmie Adams lead the Christie Comedy stock company in STOP FLIRTING (1925); John Barrymore and Bebe Daniels star in COUNSELOR AT LAW (1933); Stuart Erwin (who stars with Una Merkel) wins a refrigerator slogan contest in CRACKED NUTS (1941), but the show belongs to a mob of familiar character faces, like William Frawley, Mantan Moreland, Mischa Auer, Shemp Howard and more; Alfred Hitchcock’s early prize-fighting melodrama THE RING (1927); CHARLIE CHAN AT TREASURE ISLAND (1939), one of the best of Sidney Toler’s Chan effort, and featuring a nice turn by Caesar Romero as a stage magician; a FESTIVAL OF SILENT LAUREL AND HARDY SHORTS (Habeas Corpus, With Love and Hisses and Angora Love); A FESTIVAL OF MAX DAVIDSON SILENT SHORTS (Don’t Tell Everything, Jewish Prudence and Pass the Gravy); A FESTIVAL OF CHARLEY CHASE SHORTS; our ANNUAL ANIMATION PROGRAM and more!
